Web 2.0: A 21st Century Teaching Workshop

About the Workshop:
Educators will engage in a discussion about using web 2.0 for educational purposes. However, the emphasis is to allow participants about 2.5 hours of guided, hands-on experience to explore several tools of Web 2.0. Participants are encouraged to bring and share any electronic versions opf learning activities they currently use.

 

Presenters:
Shannon McNeice, Katrina Palazzolo, and Janet Roche will:

  • provide written step-by-step directions for participants to use web 2.0 tools
  • act as guides on the side while teachers create and explore the features of a blog, a wiki, a flickr account, a podcast, and other web 2.0 tools
  • facilitate discussions on the advantages and disavantages of web 2.0
  • facilitate discussions and make suggestions about educational uses of these tools k-12
  • suggest some of the elements of a district-wide web 2.0 policy

About the presenters
Janet Roche is the Library Media Specialist at Simsbury High School and President of CASL. She is a novice at web 2.0 but trying to learn.

 

Katrina Palazzolo is the Library Media Sepcialist at Sage Page Middle School in Windsor. She taught a 2-hour workshop to her teachers in September 2007.

 

Shannon McNeice is the Library Media Spcialist at Sedgwick Middle School, West Hartford, CT. She presented about Web 2.0 at the CEMA-CECA Conference.

Cost: $50.00 Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be provided.

As a member benefit, CASL members may subtract $5.00 from the registration fee.
